Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2 July 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Hamara Kharcha ("the app", "we", "us") collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you use the app. Hamara Kharcha is a personal finance and household budgeting app developed for use in India.
By creating an account or using the app, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.
Information we collect
We collect the following categories of information:
| Category | What it includes | Why we collect it |
|---|---|---|
| Identifiers | Name, email address, phone number, a unique user/account ID | To create and secure your account, sign you in (via email and password, or through Google or Apple Sign-In), and let you join or share a household with family members |
| Financial information | Transactions, budgets, loans, EMIs, credit cards, investments, insurance policies, bills, and other figures you enter into the app | To power the app's core features — your Financial Health Score, budgets, reports, net worth, and reminders. This data is entered by you and is never sold. |
| Device identifiers | Device ID and similar technical identifiers | App functionality, security, and to serve advertising (see below) |
| Advertising data | Non-personalized advertising identifiers used by our ad provider | To display ads that help keep the app free. We request non-personalized ads only. |
How we store and process your data
Your account and financial data are stored using Google Firebase (Authentication and Cloud Firestore), which provides encrypted storage and transmission. Data is processed on Google's cloud infrastructure under Google's own security and privacy commitments.
We do not store your data on our own servers, and we do not sell your personal or financial information to any third party.
Advertising
Hamara Kharcha shows ads through Google AdMob to support free use of the app. We configure AdMob to request non-personalized ads only. AdMob may still collect limited technical and advertising identifiers as described in Google's Partner Policy.
Household sharing
If you join or create a household, certain information you enter (such as transactions and the household member you attribute them to) becomes visible to other members of that household. You control what you enter and can leave a household at any time from Settings.
Data retention and deletion
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account and all associated data directly within the app at any time via Settings → Delete My Account. Deletion is permanent and removes your Firebase Authentication account and all household data from our servers. If you are unable to access the app, you may also request deletion by emailing hello@hamarakharcha.in from the address associated with your account.
Your rights
- You can access, edit, or delete the financial data you've entered directly within the app at any time.
- You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- You can delete your account and all associated data directly in the app (Settings → Delete My Account), or by contacting us as described above.
Children's privacy
Hamara Kharcha is not directed at children and is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
